舞も、お茶も、お三味線も、 うちはどのお稽古も全部好き。― 小花　すがお～22人の舞ことば～ ＃13

̶̶ 舞妓さんになった理由を教えてください。

中学生の時に、父が京都の写真集を買うてきてくれはったんどす。 その中で目に留まったのが、舞妓さんが紹介されていたページでした。 写真の中では、うちと同い年くらいの女の子が、京都で毎日綺麗なお着物を着て、頑張って修行をしてはる。 それを知った瞬間、なんだか居ても立ってもいられんようになって……。 すぐに「うちも京都に行きたい！」と思うようになりました。

̶̶ ご出身は京都ではないんですね。

出身は神奈川県どす。 せやから、花街の言葉を覚えることは本当に大変でした。 まるで、海外に留学したような気分やったんどす。 何も聞き取れへんし、何か聞かれても喋れへん。 初めの一ヶ月くらいは無言で過ごしました(笑)。

̶̶ 着物もかんざしも、とても可愛いですね！全てご自身で選んでいるのでしょうか。

お着物や小物は、全部置屋さんのお母さんに出していただきます。 この着物も、もともとは置屋さんのお母さんがつけてはったんどす。 それを、「あんた使いよし」と言って、譲ってもらいました。 ただ、前差しだけは自由なんどす。 せやからみんな、好きなブローチがついたオリジナルの前差しを差してはりますね。 うちは今、季節が冬なので雪の結晶。 けど、春になったら桜のブローチ、秋は茶色っぽい宝石がついたもの……というように、季節によって種類を変えています。

̶̶ 小花さんがほっと一息ついて、「すがお」でいられるのはどんな時ですか？

うちの置屋さんに裏庭があるんどす。 すごい日当たりがいい場所で。 そこで太陽を浴びて、ぼーっとしている時はほっとしますね。

̶̶ 都をどりに対する意気込みを教えてください。

都をどりは今年で二年目なんどす。 去年は先走って、いろんな失敗をしてしまいました。 うち、ほんまは焦り症で……。 なので、今年はあんまり焦らんと、冷静に頑張りたいです。 お稽古はまだ始まっていないんどすけど、冬の場面は「雪の女王」やと聞きました。うちはちょっと楽しみどす。 お客さんにも注目してほしいですね。

̶̶ 今後、どんな舞妓さんになっていきたいですか？

学校では、舞やお茶、お三味線に鳴り物、そして能とたくさんのお稽古があります。 うちはどのお稽古も、全部好きどす。 せやから、芸事をもっと頑張って、一緒にいて楽しい舞妓さんになりたいですね。

> Please tell us the reason why you would have liked to be “MAIKO”.

My father bought me a photobook about Kyoto when I was in a junior high school. In this book, something caught my eyes and it was MAIKO. Also I found a photo of a girl in KIMONO who looked l ike around the same age as me. At the moment, I thought that “I want to go Kyoto to be MAIKO!”.

> You are not originally from Kyoto, so where is it you are from?

I am from Kanagawa, next to Tokyo. At first I could not communicate well with other MAIKO because it was too difficult for me to understand “KYO-KOTOBA” (dialect of Kyoto). Actually I had spent time without speaking for the first month. I felt I was in a foreign country.

> When do you feel relaxed?

It is when I soak up the sun in the backyard garden of my dwelling.

> Your “KANZASHI” (MAIKO hairpins) are very pretty!　Is that something you could buy by yourself?

“My mother” (master) gave us all KIMONO and KANZASHI for MAIKO jobs. This KIMONO I am wearing is also given by “My mother”. We can only buy “MAEZASHI” (hairpins wearing the front) by our choice. I am putting “MAEZASHI” designed crystal of snow. It depends on the season which one I choose. For example I put one designed cherry blossoms in spring, and I put one with blown jewelries in autumn.

> Please tell us your enthusiasm for “MIYAKO-ODORI”.

It is my second time to perform at “MIYAKO-ODORI”. Last year I was a bit panicked and made some mistakes on the stage. So that, I try to think straight and do my best. I am really excited to perform “The Snow Queen” at the winter scene. I want our audience to pay attention to the scene.

> How do you like to be as “MAIKO”?

We always take many lessons such as“ MAI”,“OCHA”, SHAMISEN, and “NOH” in our MAIKO School and I like all of them. I want to try them hard and I want to be MAIKO who can make my guests happy.
