下の子たちのために、 笑顔を絶やさない芸舞妓になりたい。― まめ衣　すがお～22人の舞ことば～ ＃10

̶̶ 舞妓さんになった理由を教えてください。

小さい頃からお着物や日本文化に興味がありました。 初めは芸舞妓さんのお写真が飾ってあって、それを見て綺麗やなあと思ったのがきっかけどす。 調べていくうちに、お稽古をたくさんしたり、夜はお座敷出さしてもろうたりする、ということを知りました。 そのうちに、憧れの気持ちが大きくなっていったんどす。

̶̶ 京都の街で好きな場所はありますか？

京都は、喫茶店やカフェが多いんどす。 なので、お稽古が終わった後に同期の子と食べに行ったりします。 四条通にあるあんみつ屋さんが、美味しくて好きどすね。

̶̶ まめ衣さんがほっと一息ついて、「すがお」でいられるのはどんな時ですか？

お休みの日は好きなことさせてもうてます。 映画を観に行くこともあるんどす。 今ハマっているのは、宝塚歌劇。 兵庫の宝塚大劇場まで観に行くこともあります。 先月の公演も観ました。 面白かったです！

̶̶ 舞妓さんになってから自由にできなくなったことはあるんでしょうか。

コンビニは行きたい時に行けへんようになりましたね。 髪を結っていると、どうしても行けへんので……。 せやけど、たまに行ってみるとコンビニってほんまにすごいな、って改めて思うんどす。 雑誌もあるし、日用品も豊富で。 だから、ずっといられます。 スイーツなんかも行くたびに変わっているので、面白いどすね。

̶̶ 都をどりに対する意気込みを教えてください。

毎年恒例のものなので、たくさんの方が「今年も見に行くね」って言ってくれはります。 せやから、一回一回の公演を大切にしていきたいどす。そして、下の子たちを少しでも引っ張ってあげれるように、自分がしっかりしていきたいと思います。

̶̶ 今後、どんな舞妓さんになっていきたいですか？

だんだん下の世代の子も増えてきました。 せやから、そんな子たちのためにも笑顔を絶やさない舞妓さんになりたいどす。

> Please tell us the reason why you would have liked to be “MAIKO”?

I am originally from Kyushu area far from Kyoto. I had been interested in KIMONO and other Japanese cultures since I was a kid. One day I saw a photograph of MAIKO and GEIKO (senior apprentices of MAIKO) and it inspired me to become MAIKO. As I searched about them, I got attracted to them more and more.

> Do you have any favorite places in Kyoto?

There are many cafes in Kyoto. I like to go there with other MAIKO after our lessons. My favorite is the one serves good ANMITSU (azuki beans dessert) on the Shijo-street.

> When do you feel relaxed?

When I have free time, I often go to movies. Also recently I am into going to TAKARAZUKA Revue. Last month I went to the theater to watch their performance. That was great.

> Is there anything you cannot feel free to do after becoming MAIKO?

It is now difficult to go to convenience stores whenever I want to because of my MAIKO hairstyle. I can’t help realizing how convenient they are when I get to go. They have everything like magazines, desserts and everyday items. I would spend hours to look around.

> Please tell us your enthusiasm for “MIYAKO-ODORI”.

As it is one of the annual events, our audience who come watching many times always tell us “we are looking forward to MIYAKO-ODORI next year”. For them I keep in mind to do my best every time. Also this time I will try to support“ my younger sisters” (younger apprentices)

> How do you want to be as MAIKO?

I have some “My younger sisters” (younger apprentices). I want to be MAIKO who always keeps smiling. I try to be a role model as MAIKO for my younger sisters.
