一番「すがお」でいれるのは、お風呂に入っているとき。― 茉利佳　すがお～22人の舞ことば～ ＃4

̶̶ 舞妓さんになった理由を教えてください。

舞妓さんの写真集を見たときに舞妓さんに憧れて、この世界に入ってきました。 同期には、そういう子がたくさんいますね。 地方出張に来ていた舞妓さんを見て、ちっちゃい頃から憧れていた子もいます。 お母さんがなりたかったっていう子もいるみたいどす。

̶̶ 舞妓さんとして、やりがいを感じることはありますか？

日々「ありがたいな」と感じながら仕事をしとりますね。 色々な方々から、
たくさんのことをお勉強さしてもらってるんどす。 お母さん方やお姉さん
方だけでなく、お客さんから学ぶこともとっても多いんですよ。 花街の言葉
もそうどすね。 こんな言葉があったんや、っていう新しい発見がいつもあって、楽しおすね。

̶̶ お休みの日には何をされているのでしょうか？

写真を撮るのが好きなんどす。 この間までの様な、すごい雪の日は、カメラを持っていろんなとこに行きたいなぁって思いますね。

̶̶ 茉利佳さんがほっと一息ついて、「すがお」でいられるのはどんな時ですか？

お風呂に入ってる時が一番好きどすね。 お昼間から浸かってたりします。あとは最近、おうちに帰っていろんなお茶を入れてます。 お抹茶じゃないんどすけど(笑)。 昨日はルイボスティーを飲みました。 甘いもの食べた時も、落ち着きますね。 帰り道に、ちょっとチョコレート食べたいなぁって思うこともあります。 あったかいおうどんもそうどすね。

̶̶ 都をどりに対する意気込みを教えてください。

舞台が春秋座に変わり、祇園から遠のいても観に来てくださってる方が、前回はたくさんいはりました。 私たちも、あんなに近くで舞わしていただくことはなかなかないので、お客さんの姿もよう見えて新鮮でしたね。 お客さんからも「楽しい」って言葉をいただきました。 せやから、今年もそう言っていただける方が増えることを願って、頑張ります。 学生さんとの触れ合いも面白いし、学食も楽しみなんどす(笑)。　

̶̶ 今後、どんな舞妓さんになっていきたいですか？

今は毎日、目の前のことだけで精いっぱいなんどすけど、このごろ下の子も増えてきました。 なので、いろんなことにも気配りできるようになりたいどす。 お客さんだけと違って、下の子や姉さん方とか、いろんなところに目をつけて、周りが見えるようにしたいなぁと思います。

> Please tell us the reason why you would have liked to be “MAIKO”.

When I saw a MAIKO in a photobook, I was attracted to them and that feeling brought me to Kyoto. Other MAIKO have quite similar stories too; someone was attracted to MAIKO when she was a kid and the other became MAIKO because her mother had been attracted to MAIKO for a long time.

> When do you feel rewarding for your MAIKO jobs?

I am always thankful for “My mother” (master), “My sister (senior apprentices)”, and my guests because they teach me a lot of things such as “KAGAI language” (Kyoto dialect used only around GION area). That makes me feel rewarding for my job.

> What do you do when you have day off?

I go to take photographs. We get a lot of snow in winter here, and that is something I’d love to turn my camera.

> When do you feel relaxed?

My favorite time is when taking a bath. I sometimes take a bath in the afternoon. Also I like to make various tea after going back to home. Lately I drank not Green tea but Rooibos tea. Also I like to eat sweets, too. After my lessons, I feel like eating chocolates and Japanese hot noodle.

> Please tell me your enthusiasm for “MIYAKO-ODORI”.

Last year the theater was changed from GION to Shunjuza at Kyoto University of Art & Design. Nevertheless many people came to watch our MIYAKO-ODORI performance. It felt quite new to me because the stage was closer to audiences than before. So I could see how they reacted from the stage. Also I was happy to hear such words as “we enjoyed the performance” from the audience last year. This year, I try to do my best to make the audience happier than last year. Also I look forward to work with students of the university and am excited to go to cafeteria.

> How do you want to be as MAIKO?

Although I have no room in my mind because of my MAIKO jobs, I try to become more attentive to other people. I have more “younger sisters” than before. I would like to become more considerate not only to my guests but also to“ my sisters” and other people.
