3回目の都をどり。 だから、一生懸命に舞いたい。― 小衿　すがお～22人の舞ことば～ ＃8

̶̶ 舞妓さんになった理由を教えてください。

小さい頃からお着物が好きで、芸事にも興味があったんどす。 テレビで舞妓はんの姿を観たことがきっかけで、その綺麗な着物姿にずっと憧れてました。 それで中学校を卒業してから祇園へ来たので……。 舞妓になって、もう四年目どす。 うちも、今年で二十歳になります。

̶̶ 舞妓さんになって、大変だったことはありますか？

やっぱりお稽古は大変どすね。せやけど、一番好きな時間でもあります。 今、一番好きなのは三味線どすかね。 音がすごい好きで、うちもそういう風に弾けたら格好ええなあって思ってお稽古しています。 まだまだどすけど(笑)。うちは覚えるのに時間がかかるので、何回も繰り返して身につけていくことが大変どす。

̶̶ 普段持ち歩いているもので、お気に入りのものはありますか？

お鞄や手鏡どすね。 これはみんな、お姉さん方が使うてやしたもので、それをうちが使わしてもうてるんどす。 お姉さん方と同じものを使えるってすごい嬉しいことなんどす。 うちも下の子が来はったら、お姉さんみたいに渡せるように、綺麗に使うようにしています。

̶̶ 小衿さんがほっと一息ついて、「すがお」でいられるのはどんな時ですか？

うちは掃除が好きなので、お家の掃除をしているとほっとしますね。 お紅茶を入れてゆっくり飲んだりする時間も好きどす。 普段は日本髪を結ってるので、普段はそんなに出歩かしまへんね。 月に2回あるお休みの日は、髪もおろしてお洋服も着るんどす。 映画とか舞台とか好きでよく観に行きます。こないだの休みは、大阪まで行って劇団四季さんの「キャッツ」を観に行きました。

̶̶ 都をどりに対する意気込みを教えてください。

都をどりは今年で3回目になるんどす。 今年は新しくいただいたお役もあるので、それを一生懸命努めていきたいどすね。 うちは、あんまり緊張しいひんタイプで。 ワクワクはするんどすけど、緊張しすぎてどうしよう、みたいな経験はないどすね。 お舞台立ってるのがすごい楽しおして、そんなカチンコチンになることはなかなかあらしまへん( 笑) 。 でも、ちゃんと緊張感を持って舞えたらなあ、と思います。

> Please tell us the reason why you would have liked to be “MAIKO”.

I love “KIMONO” and have been interested in Japanese traditional performance since I was a kid. That is why I became MAIKO after graduating from junior high school. It has already been 4 years since I came GION in Kyoto. Also I am already going to be 20 years old this year.

> Do you have any hard time as MAIKO?

I feel hard when I take lessons. On the other hand, it is my favorite time too. Lately the SHAMISEN is my favorite lesson. Especially its sounds are very nice. I need more practice and more time to get skilled than others, so I always keep in mind to practice over and over.

> Do you have any favorite goods you always have with you?

I always carry a bag and a hand mirror which “My sisters” (senior apprentices) once used and they gave to me. I really love to use these because I really respect “My sisters.” I try to handle them carefully as I would like to give them to “Younger sisters” (junior apprentices) in future.

> When do you feel relaxed?

It is when I clean my room. I like to do this. Also I like to have time to relax and have tea. I don’t go out so much because of my MAIKO hairstyle. I have days off twice a month. At that time I wear normal clothes instead of KIMONO and I go movies and theaters. Last time I went to the theater to watch “CATS”.

> Please tell us your enthusiasm for “MIYAKO-ODORI”.

It is my third time to perform at “MIYAKO-ODORI”. I try to do my best because I get a new role. I always don’t get nervous and I’m just excited about my stage. But I do need to keep some sense of tense at this MIYAKO-ODORI and I try to enjoy it as usual.
