ジャンルを問わず、映画が大好き。でもホラーだけは苦手どす。(笑) ― 豆珠　すがお～22人の舞ことば～ ＃16

̶̶ 舞妓さんになった理由を教えてください。

最初に舞妓さんのことを知ったのは、中学三年生の時どす。 たまたま本屋さんで写真集を見つけて、立ち読みしたのがきっかけでした。 それから、舞妓さんに対して憧れを抱くようになったんどす。 それから、中学校を卒業したのと同時にこの世界に入ることを決めました。

̶̶ 舞妓さんとして、仕事に楽しさを感じるのはどんなときですか？

出張で全国いろんなところにお邪魔させてもうらう時どすね。 百貨店にお邪魔して、舞を舞わせてもらうことがあるんどす。 そん時はいろんな方とお会いできますし、おしゃべりなんかもさせてもらいます。 学生さんと同じくらいの歳どすけど、学校とはまた違う体験をしてるなって思いますね。

̶̶ 舞妓さんになり、変わったことはありますか？

平日は普通の枕で寝られないことだったり、髪の毛も一週間くらい形を持たせなきゃいけなかったり、が大変ですかね。 高枕という時代劇に出てくるような枕で寝るんですけど、最初のうちは首が痛くなったり、腰が痛くなったり、膝が痛くなったりしてました。 でも、慣れてきたら大丈夫になりました。

̶̶ 豆珠さんがほっと一息ついて、「すがお」でいられるのはどんな時ですか？

映画を見に行くのが好きどすね。ジャンルは問わず、なんでも見ますね。 ホラー以外は。 この間は「DESTINY–鎌倉ものがたり–」を見に行きました。 めちゃめちゃ泣きました(笑)。

̶̶ 都をどりに対する意気込みを教えてください。

お姉さん方の足を引っ張らないようにお稽古を頑張りたいと思います。 都をどりには、大人数の動きが合わさっているからこその魅力があると思ってるんどす。 せやから、お客さんにはそういうところを観てもらいたいと思ってます。

̶̶ 今後、どんな舞妓さんになっていきたいですか？

うちは舞妓になって、一年経ったところなんどす。 お稽古で一番好きなのは舞どす。 いろんな曲覚えられるし、レパートリーがどんどん増えていく達成感がありますね。 せやから、これからもお稽古を頑張って、祇園町のお姉さん方みたいな芸舞妓さんになれたらいいなと思っています。

> Please tell us the reason why you wanted to be “MAIKO”.

It all started when I found a photobook of MAIKO at a bookstore. I was in the 9th grade at that time. I had not known about them, but my dream became to be MAIKO. That’s why I became an apprentice of MAIKO soon after graduating from a junior high school.

> When do you feel excited to your job as MAIKO?

It is when I go to various areas in Japan for performance. It always makes me excited. Also I sometimes perform MAI dance at stages of department stores. At that time I enjoy talking with our audience every time. I think it is such precious experiences which I could never have if I were in a high school.

> When do you feel relaxed?

It is the time when I go to movies. I like to watch all kinds of films, except horror ones. Recently I watched a film“ DESTINY –a story of KAMAKURA”. It touched at my heart and I cried a lot.

> Do you have anything to change after being MAIKO?

We MAIKO need to use a high pillow called TAKAMAKURA. It is for keeping MAIKO’s hairstyle for around one week. At first, I had many pains in my neck, back and knees by using the high pillow. However I have been getting used to it, and now I am all right.

> Please tell us your enthusiasm for the “MIYAKO-ODORI”.

I try to do my best. I would like the audience to focus on the synchronic MAI dance of large number of MAIKO in the MIYAKO-ODORI.

> How do you like to be as “MAIKO”?

I have been MAIKO for one year. I enjoy “MAI” dance lessons the best out of all MAIKO trainings. I can perform more MAI dance than before. I would like to be MAIKO as “My sisters” (senior apprentices) of GION who perform MAI dance very well. I try to do my best!
